In the OpenOffice I get a few options of which program I want...Base, Calc, Draw, Impress, Math or Writer...which one do I need??

Install them all

If you are creating, I'd say start with "Draw"

If you are trying to just open and use an OpenOffice document, it will know which application to use.

I found OpenOffice and I have managed to download the Calender 2008 zip file but now I'm stuck again!

In the OpenOffice I get a few options of which program I want...Base, Calc, Draw, Impress, Math or Writer...which one do I need??

My filofax arrived today and it's fab! It has come with only a couple of inserts (an address one but A-B is missing so I need to go and get some new ones, and one that's 1-12 (no idea what I'll use that for, if anything!). I have already designed my own notepaper with my little tiger logo at the bottom (if Mulberry can have a tree!!) so what I'm after now is a calender, a to-do type thing and addresses.

So I need to figure this out!! I've found some A5 paper (can't be bothered cutting it up) and I have to get a hole punch - just been playing with a normal hole punch but I think it'll take too long!! Patience is NOT my strong point!

I like the idea of those mindmap pages you can get off ebay, I love stuff like that!!

I'm as giddy as a kipper!!

I would begin at the beginning - http://www.diyplanner.com/templates/official/beginner This page explains the whole process - in a nutshetll. It will show you how to download templates and just kind of explains this site.

But, we are always here, so just throw your questions out and someone will answer!

P.S. Also check out the "gallery" which holds pictures of different kits people have made. It is the light green tab, top-right of the site...

No need for NeoOffice with version 3

If you are on a Mac, there is a Mac-customized version called NeoOffice at http://www.neooffice.org

If you are a Mac user then you can download OpenOffice.org with an Aqua interface as version 3 (available RSN) has that as one of its goal. I've used both beta releases and now release candidate 1. Found (and reported) a few bugs but RSN there will be a full release for Macs.

The old-timers here will expect me to answer you with "Google is your friend", but I will not (quite) do that.

Start with the purple tab at the top right that says "Templates"
Most of them are PDF or JPG/PNG format, so Adobe Acrobat Reader and any graphic application will do to start.

Open office is found at (are you ready for it ?) http://www.openoffice.org/

If you are on a Mac, there is a Mac-customized version called NeoOffice at http://www.neooffice.org

Just thought I'd pop in and say hello!

I've just bought myself an A5 filofax off Ebay and wanted to design my own pages instead of the ones that come pre-made....I don't need 'hourly appointments' and nor do I have friends with fax machines!

I wanted to put my own little logo on my pages and the ideas are buzzing around my head with no place to go - yet!

I've been surfing the net for a couple of days now for ideas and downloads, templates and stuff and kept coming back to this site - so well done to the maker!!

What I am looking for first is a calender, maybe a week to a page? I don't have that much of a social life but it would be nice to be able to record some social events at some point! I am more of a writer of ideas, thoughts and stuff (so more of a journal writer really) so I don't want to use all the valuable space with stuff I wont really use.

I am trying to negotiate my way round this site but there seems to be so much to look at I don't know where to start...can someone point me in the right direction?

Do I need to download this open office thing first? Where is it?

I may well be here for quite some time as this seems to be my kind of thing!!
