How-To: Submitting a Kit Image

  1. Before submitting any image, please ensure that: a) you are the copyright holder of the image; or b) you have the explicit permission of the copyright holder; or c) the image is in the public domain. We do not want to run into copyright issues: problematic images will be removed from the system.

  2. Please take the time to resize and optimise your image. It should be 500 pixels wide, maximum. In Photoshop or another graphics application, please optimise it by changing the compression level until the file is less than 65KB. (In Photoshop, you can do this through File -> Save as Web....)

  3. After logging in, you will see a "Create content" link in the top right. Click on that, and choose "image".

  4. Give your image a unique title. "My Hipster PDA Kit" is not unique. "Professor James Moriarty's Hipter PDA Kit" is.

  5. Under Image Galleries, choose "Kit Photographs".

  6. Under Image, click the Browse button and locate your image. Choose it.

  7. Write a description of the image. This is where you can share all the nitty-gritty details of your kit. What templates do you use (if any)? What is the make and model of your case? What do you carry it in? What pen are you using? Do you carry a calculator or regular PDA with that? How about headphones? Spare change? An ID card? People love to read these things. If you want to make a list, you can start each item with an asterisk and choose Marksmarty as your input format.

  8. Choose the Input Format. If this doesn't make sense to you, simply choose Marksmarty.

  9. Hit the Preview button and see if everything is as you wish. If not, make changes and preview again. When everything is to your liking, hit the Submit button.

  10. The image will be held temporarily for moderation. Please don't re-upload the image if it does not immediately appear. If there are perceived problems with your image, you will be contacted. Else, the image will be published in short order, usually within a day or two.
