Multivalent and 2-Up Pages

I try and be as self-sufficient as possible, I scour posts and hate 2 ask questions already covered, but I believe my situation is a tad unique. It is in 2 parts.
1st, I am trying to print 2-Up pages, NOT Duplex. I have not seen that help available.
But 2nd and more importantly, am I doing something wrong with multivalent? When I run the .jar file I get this:

lib/ext

OK, I have put multivalent in my java lib/ext directory . . .
Now, what is next? lol
Where do my pdf files have to be? I am getting closer . . .

Did you try following...

...this as an example ?
In that example, the jar file is in the same directory as the PDF files I am working on, thus the command starts out:

java -classpath .\Multivalent20060102.jar...

What, exactly, do you wish to do to your PDF files ?

That is the key 2 the puzzle

OK, I think I am ALMOST self sufficient.
What I am trying 2 do is create 2-Up, single sided, right side pages . . .
Dynamic Templates is INCREDIBLE by the way!
I heard a rumor that v3 is coming . . . is that true?

ok, maybe not

I placed the pdf and multivalent in the same folder

This is what I tried:

J:\Dox\Planner>java -classpath .\multivalent20091027.jar tool.pdf.Impose -nup 4

What am I doing wrong?

Try this

In your command shell, in the same location as the Multivalent...jar file, type this command:

jar tvf

followed by the name of your jar file.

If you do not see a bunch of lines in the output like this:

Then you have the wrong version of the jar file.

BRILLIANT!!!!!!!

Thank U 2 million!!!!
I am but one step away, I believe
I am making documents now, but how do I properly lay it out?
my dynamic template is a weekly classic sized calendar.
I want single sided, 2-up, 8.5x11, right sided pages.

java -classpath .\Multivalent20060102.jar tool.pdf.Impose -nup 2 wDynamicTemplate.pdf got me what looks like left sided pages on a 5.5x8.5

i think I got it

looks like:
java -classpath .\Multivalent20060102.jar tool.pdf.Impose -verbose -dim 2x1 -paper 11x8.5in wDynamicTemplate.pdf

did it!
THANKS!!!!!

Another satisfied "customer"

My work here is done for today :)

Now let's get really precise

This is a small thing, but would be nice if I can control it.
I am printing on pre-punched shaded day-timer planner paper. Perforated 8.5x11 paper to create Classic sized planner pages.
In my 2-up prints, the left half prints fairly nicely, but the right half is a little too close to the center and too far from the right margin.
Can this be fixed/adjusted? I thought perhaps the margin command could be used, but that was just a guess.

And THANK U for all your outstanding work and help so far!

My suggestion...

If by "the margin command", you are talking about Multivalent, I would not try that. I have found the tools to be useful but difficult to fine tune.

I would suggest tinkering with the margins in the Dynamic Template. Find values that, when run thru Multivalent, print out to fit your paper. I would practice on blank paper unless you have lots to waste on testing.
