The story so far...

Three people asked for a total of 9 notebooks.
They are sold in groups of 5.
I plan to buy 15.
I do not yet have a shipping cost, but it is my hope that shipping will add less than $1 per notebook to the cost.

Stay tuned.

Finally Admitting Ignorance

I've been coming here for a while, and for the most part can figure out lingo used here, i.e. "GTD". I can take a stab at the definition of "uber" as in "uber cool ____". But I must admit my ignorance on the meaning of "pr0n". What the heck is that?

--Bob

pr0n

It's the l33t ("leet") spelling for "porn."

no worries

it is the leet way of saying porn...

emails catch spam wordage a lot and porn is a trigger...

so from porn came p0rn and that evolved to the ever popular and trendy pr0n. :D

"leet"?

I'm having a bad day, so please bear with me, but nothing is more frustrating to me than defining lingo with more lingo. What the heck is "leet"? I'm starting to feel VERY old all of a sudden.

--Bob

u r l33t Bob!

Don't feel bad... You can't pick up goofy lingo without asking... I had to ask to learn too :)

((HuGGLeS))

huggles are a combination of snuggles and huggs ... used by everyone I used to game with online... Not sure if I started it or my friend Reese did... lol. Use it and love it! <3

((HuGGLes)) to you, Sara!

Thanks, I needed that!

--Bob

Wasn't Me!

OK I definitely would remeber getting Huggled by Sara.

Oh, never mind - must be another Reese :)

Thanks ygor

The "leet" link was uber helpful.

--Bob

pr0n!

pr0n is "porn" with the letters switched around. While traditionally it is not something I'd want to have anything to do with at all, pr0n has come to mean really cool pictures you just can't help but look at of other things. In the case of "paper pr0n" you have things like the Levenger catalogs and the Office Porn flickr group (yes, it is safe for work).

I've even seen reference to "weather pr0n" to describe sites like this Extremeinstability.com.

I would like to buy one

Hi all, I would like to join in the fun and buy one with the group.
where do I sign up?

Duc, go to Pendemonium

Duc,

Read the thread further down, you can get them at Pendemonium.

Catalog reference

http://www.clairefontaine.com/Catalogue2007/

Bottom of page 15
210 x 297 (That's A4, I believe)/ 144 page/72 sheet notebooks.

I'm going to ask for a color assortment.

I am told there are no refill packs as they would cost about the same as the notebooks.

These are going to be great,

These are going to be great, thanks! I've been using a Clairefontaine tablet and then punching it for my Circa journal, but this is going to eliminate that step. Writing with a fountain pen on Clairefontaine paper is the ne plus ultra, imo. :D

The Order is in !!

I just ordered 15. That's the good news.
The less-than-good-news is that I do not know the shipping cost as the sales person I spoke with does not directly handle the orders -- the warehouse does that. I did request that they use the lowest cost shipping. So, cross your fingers.

NEW DEVELOPMENT: Deal with Pendemonium !!

Reference

Me and Sara, working in parallel without knowing it :), have got a deal for all y'all.

Rather than get these notebooks directly from the wholesaler, it has been arranged for one of Exaclair's regular retailers, Pendemonium, to stock and sell the A4 size, ring-bound notebooks.

They will be available for $6 each (Same price !!) and I will announce here when Pendemonium has them in stock.

This makes it easier for me 'cause I do not have to re-ship them and a bit cheaper for you as you will not have to pay for shipping twice -- once to me and then to you.

If you want the A5 size, what we would have to do is come up with sufficient demend for the minimum order. Exaclair tells me that special orders can take a few months to fill, so let's not have any rush ordering requested, please.

mwuahahaha

Great minds think alike.

I am so impressed with Sam doing all the research and followup. That type of service is becoming rare in todays society.

Many thanks to you Ygor for offering your assistance ! <3

They're on the web site now.

They're on the web site now. :) Already placed my order. :D Many thanks to Sam at Pendemonium - and Ygor and Sara - for doing this. Clairefontaine paper is my absolute favorite paper to write on, esp. with fountain pens, even above Levenger's paper, so I'm thrilled to get some that I don't have to punch. Can't wait!

I must be blind

I still do not see them.

Are they at the page in Sam's e-mail that I posted ?

Sorry. Still don't see it.

On the page I get, the first thing under the grid/line samples is "Elastibooks from Clairefontaine" for $7 each

I'm looking for $6 Clairing notebooks

Clairing

It's remarkable how a community effort such as this was able to bring this notebook to the US.

They were already here...

comments?

What are they like? I didn't place an order until Saturday, but they shipped today. Is the paper awsome? What are the covers and rings like? Tell me more? I'm not being patient tonight. I think I'll go click on the tracking number again...

Thanks!
Lisa PT

First impressions - wonderful !!

I got 2. One is red, the other blue (Gee that rhymes)
The covers are a heavy card stock with a pleasant block pattern. The rings are about 5/8" diameter as best as I can eyeball them and they are the color of the cover (red and blue, respectively)

The paper is a gorgeous slightly-off-white, ruled, with light blue lines spaced at 8mm. There is a vertical red line spaced 40mm from the left edge.

I was fortunate enough to also find, on my way home from work, the Pilot Varsity disposable fountain pens at my local Border's. I bought one to "test drive" and was overjoyed to find these notebooks in the day's mail when I got home.

This is the smoothest paper I have ever written on. The surface reminds me somewhat of animal-skin vellum. It took the fountain pen ink beautifully. On a recent school field trip to Colonial Williamsburg, my son got a goose quill pen with a copy of the Declaration of Independence. I have promised to show him how to write with a feather quill. This paper should be ideal for that.

I have absolutely no regrets at the time, effort, and cost it took to obtain these. Anyone who did not order these had better jump on them. The price is discounted 'cause Exaclair has had these gathering dust in their warehouse. Normal prices would only get you an A5 size as opposed to these A4's.

Now you know why I rave

Now you know why I rave about Clairefontaine so much! :D It is just heaven to write on, especially with a fountain pen. I received mine yesterday - I won't mention how greedy I was - and have already started using one. I know I've gushed a lot on here about this paper, but, once more, I'd like to thank both you and Sara (and Tournevis for mentioning them!) for all the work you did in making these available.

Go ahead. Tell us how greeedy :)

If we have enough greedy folks, maybe we can get a steady supply of the A5 size stuff.

Clairing greed

Sorry, ygor, I didn't see your post until today.

Ok, my Clairing greed: 5! I ordered five of the darlings and I love them. I don't need them, but I am glad I have them. (Two greens, a blue, a black, and a red. I'm saving the red for something special, but I haven't decided what yet.)

Interestingly enough, I've found myself putting smaller Circa paper in the Clairing as I go along, when I had expected to take the paper out and put it in the Circa. I'll probably end up with a mix of both.
