Taking the fountain pen plunge

After reading through some of the fountain pen threads here, and then trying out the Pilot Varsity disposable fountain pens for a bit, I finally decided to to get my own pen.

I'm now anxiously awaiting the arrival of my Lamy Safari. I can hardly wait to get it and try it out. I also sprung for the piston converter and I'm looking forward to trying out different inks and completing my first fill.

Just thought I'd share.

I think you'll like the Safari. I certainly do. It's a pretty nice pen and very reliable. I don't like it quite as much as my vintage Scheaffer I got in the mail yesterday, but the Safari is a solid pen.

I actually feel vaguely silly at how much I'm looking forward to getting my new pen. I've read a lot of good things about the Safari as a "starter" pen. I'm sure this is just the beginning of yet another addiction.

Love my Safaris!

Great choice! I have lots and lots of fountain pens, including six Safaris as well as a few other models that use the same body style but different materials, but it's my Safaris that are packed in my penroll ready to get tossed in my tote. I've found them to be very reliable with minimal care.

I think you're going to enjoy your new fountain pen a lot. But beware! It's the first step on a very slippery slope. ;D

Now as to inks... the colors are soooo addictive! Just received my newest colors: Noodler's Walnut and Private Reserve's Chocolat (that I had scented with Strawberry). LOL Now to find the perfect pen to go with them.

Have a great time! Finding wonderful tools to do everyday tasks with is such fun and can enhance even the most mundane chores.

so many choices

After ordering my pen, the next step has been to look into buying ink. I must say I'm a little overwhelmed by the amount of choices. It's definitely a fun kind of overwhelmed though. :)
