Two Notebooks in One. (Circa/Rolla)

BEHOLD!

Okay so it isn't the GREATEST thing but I am still very proud of this prototype.

Basically it fulfills two of my needs... A planner/journal style notebook with a sketchbook included. (Granted you could have two other types of notebooks).

The left bound pages are ruled. The top bound pages are sketch paper. Everything functions normally since the back cover is the only altered component. I made it taller to allow for both sets of discs to operate smoohtly.

I also like the idea of using the top bound discs to hold 2" wide slips of paper (either 3.5" long like business cards or pieces from the "micro pda" or 4" long because I had some scraps).

Let me know what you think... what you like... what you dislike, etc :D

Why not :)

If that works for you, great.

Hmmm. I wonder if a 3 or 4-way notebook could work, he said scrambling off to check on his supply of discs.

Bwa-ha-ha-ha-ha-haaaaaa !!

That is basically my idea

That is basically my idea for a pda dock too.

except the extension would be on the cover of the planner. Then just insert your PDA discs into the smurfs on the top of the cover and TA DA never misplace your circa pda again!

Love it.
Now I just need to figure out how to incorporate it into my planner

added to my blog

I hope the explanations of how I did it are clear. I didn't do a step by step for a couple reasons... including dead batteries in the digital camera (which explains the webcam pics).

This should help...

I had to dig a bit to find this again, but Google is my Friend:
Smurf Dimensions

x = 5/16 inch (8mm)
y = 1 inch (25.4mm)

In this case, the "X" of 8mm is the important one. On the side you want to add another row of discs, I'd suggest adding at least 8mm, probably 10mm would do better.

That way, the rings for one side do not interfere with the pages for the other side.

How'zat ?
