The journal hunt continues: MiquelRius

The MiquelRius pocket journals look very Moleskine-like, but with much better paper. I just ordered two (at $4 each) from Pendemonium.com. I'll review then when they show up...

I'm Waiting...

On what you think. I have a MiquelRius pocket gridded noteboook, but I don't know what they call it. There's about 200 pages in it. I do enjoy it, but the one draw back is the perfect binding in such a small book with so many pages. It's difficult for a larger-handed person like myself to write well in it.

The pocket ones, at $4 are a compelling alternative to a Moleskine to me.

Definitely not what I ordered.

Here's the info from Pendemonium on the ones I ordered:

Leather-Look Flexible Pocket Notebooks
Elastic strap helps keep notes inside or marks your page. Pocket inside back cover. Notebooks measure 3x5 inches, 64 sheets, 70gr fountain pen friendly paper. The perfect book to tuck in your pocket when you're on the go.

So yes, they have less pages than a Moleskine, but they're also one-third the price. And, if one is writing with a fountain pen, one can write on both sides of the page, thus doubling the writing space. (I can only write on one side of my Moleskine pages, which bugs me.)

Once I hear back about my order total with shipping, I'll post what the shipping charges are. I've ordered ink from them before, and shipping wasn't too bad; hopefully they'll just toss my journals in a Priority Mail envelope and send them off.

Shipping charges

$3 for two journals, via First Class mail. So $11 total for two journals, which is less than the cost of one Moleskine.

I really hope these work out.

Sigh.

The line spacing in these is so wide I could get maybe one long sentence per page.

Grrr. foiled again!

Do you mind...

Hi Steff,

Do you mind letting me know what the line spacing is? I fairly have small handwriting, so I'm wondering if these will work for me. Thanks so much!

Jen (aka marmoset)

Just checked.

5/16" or 8mm.

Thanks!

Thanks! That is a bit wide... I might give it a go anyway. :)

You should consider getting

You should consider getting the grid version.

I'd 2nd that

As I mentioned before, I'm still using mine, but for a special purpose. While I haven't measured the grid in comparison to the line dimensions listed above, I believe that the Miq grid is more comparable to a Moleskine grid.

Just compared. They're actually a bit smaller than a Moleskine. I still find them fine for writing, but I also use very fine ballpoints in it. My Parker Jotter medium is a bit thicker than I like. The Platinum Double Action is relatively fine and works quite well.
