Taking a Chance on Levenger Shipping

With the holidays quickly approaching, I've decided to bite the bullet and see how the Levenger shipping works out for me. I got my punch and a big bag of other goodies at the Tysons store when I was in DC on vacation last spring, so haven't actually dealt with their shipping since last year sometime.

Got some gifts for my parents - my mom actually saw the Circa address book in a catalog and liked it (score another Circa convert!)- and got a book for my dad. And of course a couple of $3 '07 agendas for me, plus a free leather rope. Thanks Levenger!

Now we'll see if it comes by Christmas :) I even took the risk of Smartpost...

Me too.

I decided to get some book bungees for gifts. I got the free leather rope offer in email, and that's on the way too. I opted for the fedex shipping rather than the smartpost.

Since I bought small stuff for relatively low prices, the shipping cost didn't seem that high--only $7. That might be a bit higher than actual fedex cost for the weight, but it also might not. Anyway, it didn't seem bad.

But now we see if the shipping date and duration work out. :)

Good Luck!

to both of us now...

Out for Delivery

I see from the tracking page that my order is out for delivery today. So I may get a present this afternoon.

So, ordered on Friday (or maybe Thursday night, can't remember), out for delivery on the following Wednesday. Pretty good. :)

It is Ground, not Smartpost, so the box went straight from Memphis to the city nearest me, no routing through Timbuktu first. I was doubtful when I saw it leaving Memphis yesterday, but I think it will work out. 'Out for Delivery' is a pretty reliable indicator for me (unlike poor naynay).

I got my box. Three bungees and a leather rope. The leather rope is red, which I wasn't expecting. I figured they'd send the sale color if they're trying to get rid of it. That's tan or saddle or something like that. But no, it's red.

Now to figure out whether it's going to have a life with me or become a gift.

red? NICE

i got brown... was hoping for red or black. I am also trying to figure out if I should give as a gift...
smiles, nay nay

What gift? Huh?

"To fly, we must have resistance."

I got red

(singsong) Levenger's likes me more than Nay Nay...

At least, the shipping email says I got red. I won't get to hold it until Christmas.

How did you get thius deal/gift?
"To fly, we must have resistance."

Levenger's mailing list

I'm on Levenger's mailing list. They sent me an email on the 28th with the deal, now expired. It's a 'thank you' gift, I guess. Buy something, anything, and get a free leather rope. Some folks bought ultra-cheap marked down stuff because what they wanted was really the leather rope.

Some folks on the mailing list got a different freebie offer, listed somewhere else in this thread. Personally, I would have loved for it to be a shirt pocket jotter. That would stay with me instead of being a potential gift.

The text of my email was:

As a member of our Preferred Customer E-List, we're delighted to offer
you a free 3 x 5 Leather- Rope, a $25 value, with your next
merchandise purchase, now through December 3, 2007*. This handsome
card holder provides an elegant means of storing and transporting your
3 x 5 cards. Be sure to click through this email to receive your gift.

Thanks for the text

Maybe I will get on the email list this time. I have even used the discount code I was given to join but no offers or emails thus far.

"To fly, we must have resistance."

I got the same email

And for the record - my rope should be toffee. That'll match my pocket briefcase.

*copies Nay Nay's happy dance*

I got brown, too

And was hoping for red.

Hard to complain about free, though (:

"Hard to complain about free"

Not if you reeeeeeealy try to !

"If there was nothing to complain about, would you complain about that ?"

I know more than a few folks who would answer "Yes" to that.

"would you complain about that?"

Sun, sun sun! All we ever get around here is sun! Why can't we have some rain for a change?!

Sometimes I do

complain about the unrelenting sun. I like rain.

But mostly not. (c:

Black for me

I got black and feel pretty lucky about it, too. Looks like they were using all the colors not, as I would have guessed, just gone with the dregs. Cool.

Inching Closer...

Indianapolis today. Curse you Levenger smartpost!

You too, girls! I hate you ALL!!!!

You know, you girls can just swap colors, BTW.

I'm in Orange County and my punch is been cooling its heels in Los Angeles since the weekend.

It finally broke loose today and is supposed to be delivered tomorrow (a previous estimate had it being delivered on Saturday, fergossake!).

And has anyone else been to Earth City, MO? I have!

Swap colors

I'm pleased that I got red. It's the color I would have selected (from the ones available) had I been given the option.

However, if I was *really* picking a color, I might choose navy or cranberry or eggplant.

Red's OK, though. Might give that to my mom, she uses 3x5s for a household tickler. I checked with my household and work tickler, and it fits fine. Prettier than the brown plastic box she is using now, anyway. I just wonder if it would be in danger from her dogs. Brown plastic doesn't attract much attention, but red leather might.

Lev order

Well, I am not sure how this happened, but I am actually receiving a lev order today that I just ordered on TUESDAY! I did pay for UPS ground instead of SmartPost, but I am still amazed. Last time I upgraded the shipping, it took 7 biz days (I think - it was a while ago). So, I am pretty excited! The fedex truck is circling town, so I hope it gets here soon!

Three little words that make my heart flutter

"Out for delivery"

so very true!!! :)

Three little words that make my heart clench

"Out of stock"

Aaaaah !

Ordered Wednesday with

Ordered Wednesday with SmartPost shipping (the cheap one). Arrived today (5 days total, including a weekend). Happy me.

By the way, I think the free 3x5 Rope Case is very, very, very cool. Had I known how much I would instantly love it, I would have purchased one long ago. Well worth the money I would have spent, had I spent the money on one.

I think the rope case deal is still going on through today (Dec 3, 2007). Go forth and purchase.

now, not so happy

well, now I am bummed. You paid less than me and ordered a day after me and received a day before I did. Does Levenger shipping make sense to ANYONE out there????

Captain Lev - hope you are reading... THIS IS MY FINAL ORDER WITH LEV UNTIL THEY FIGURE OUT THEIR SHIPPING!!!!!!!!!!!

still pouting nay nay

There doesn't seem to be a

There doesn't seem to be a lot of logic to it, at times.

To get something from Memphis, TN to Chattanooga, TN, the package leaves Memphis on the afternoon of Nov 28 and goes to
Earth City MO, then Atlanta GA, then New Berlin WI, and now it's in Dallas TX, scheduled to get here on Dec 5.

What I don't understand is why it's going USPS/Smartpost when I chose Fedex Ground when I placed the order...

It's like the twilight zone:
A tail. A tail of two items, purchased at the same time. One, a punch, back-ordered. Will it ever arrive? The second, Simply Irresistable, fast-tracked from Memphis to Chattanooga with only a quick stop in Nashville.

The really frustrating part? Memphis is less than 350 miles from here. Atlanta is less than 120.

well, the package which has been "out for delivery" since 5:47 am has not arrived and we are closing up shop for the day. Hopefully they will finally get here tomorrow. Not like this is a big city. Takes about ten minutes to drive from the north end of town to the south! I HATE waiting for deliveries - makes me VERY grouchy! I am going to go home and pout now!

nay nay :>(

finally got it!

Shipment has arrived (after being in town for 35 plus hours). And, of course, I am THRILLED with the purchase and the free 3X5 rope thing! Always wanted one of those - happy to say it was free! So, anyway, it is here and I can stop gripping. I will however double think all future purchases from Lev until they change their shipping. I am not ordering unless I cannot find the item somewhere else and only if I absolutely have to have it! It will be a VERY long time until my next order. Yes, quality of goods is nice, but not if you are too steamed from waiting from them to even enjoy the arrival of these beautiful items.

Okay - done ranting (for today that is!)
Happy waiting! nay nay

When nay nay is happy, we

When nay nay is happy, we are all happy.

When Nay Nay is NOT happy...

we all run and hide !

boys - be nice

Hey now, be nice to me. I was in a very fragile state after ripping out my hair and pouting for such a long period of time while awaiting my lev purchase. You know how girls can get when waiting for office supplies!
Be nice to nay nay! wink to my boys!

Ok, I got an email notice my SmartPost packge was shipped on Dec 1. Just checked the tracking and it wasn't actually picked up in Memphis until Dec 3 and left Earth City, MO today.

*twiddling thumbs*

That's smartpost for you

That's smartpost for you. Mine was even worse - picked up in Memphis, TN and arrived in Earth City, MO on November 30th. Left Earth City Today, December 4th. Estimated arrival date: December 11th, 7 days from today. I did deliberately pick the cheap shipping option because I wasn't worried about getting it quickly though.

Me as well

Could not pass up the free 3x5 rope binder offer, so I placed an order, and told the missus: "If a box comes from Levenger, you can hide it until Christmas." I have chosen to let fate surprise me this time.

What rope offer?

Wha? Huh?
"To fly, we must have resistance."

Didn't you get The E-Mail ?

"I think the surest sign that there is intelligent life out there in the universe is that none of it has tried to contact us." (Calvin and Hobbes/Bill Waterson)

Was that a joke? I am finishing grad school in three days and missing ANYTHING is not funny! (Just kidding-all is turned in and my fate is cast.)

"To fly, we must have resistance."

Mailing list

Levenger has a mailing list, they sent this around at the end of November:

As a member of our Preferred Customer E-List, we're delighted to offer
you a free 3 x 5 Leather- Rope, a $25 value, with your next
merchandise purchase, now through December 3, 2007

...along with links to click through. I didn't see it mentioned on the site, though I didn't look too hard.

Signed up for this email for a while now---no go!

Hmmmm....I signed up for this some time ago and I haven't gotten any email. I will try another account. Thanks!

"To fly, we must have resistance."

I didn't get that offer

Though I do get the e-mail offers from them.

I wonder if one's been spaminated somehow.
