Finally making an Intro post!

Hi, I'm Jess! I've been a member for a while now, and a lurker even before that. Like everyone I'm constantly struggling to find the right organizational strategy and trying to keep myself from drooling too much over fancy paper, pens, and notebooks!

After lots of forum reading and some soul searching, I finally ponied up for a Circa notebook (purple bookcloth, letter-sized) plus a punch, some dividers and some extra rings. The notebook has been perfect for work, though I don't quite have it organized the way I want to yet. But I love the convenience and versatility it offers.

The punch was my best investment by far--I have used it to make an HPDA-sized reference deck for my writing (though I'm moving towards using the plot point and character templates), punched countless work printouts to include in my notebook, and most recently used it to make an insert for my beautiful Coach planner because the insert runs out at the end of this month. I have tried (and failed) with a few DIYPlanner attempts before, but this is working perfectly.

The planner itself is hot pink leather with gorgeous brass hardware, but the insert it comes with--meh is the only way to describe it! I have an addiction to fine leather goods, though, so when I saw it I had to have it. I originally thought it might hold a Moleskine or a Classic size perfectly but it's just not quite the right size--it fits 5" x 8". So I decided to get some 5" x 8" index cards, grabbed my Circa punch, some plastic for the back cover that inserts into the planner, and some extra rings, and I now have a beautiful AND functional planner! It's so much fun to play with, and I can customize it however I want. I got 500 index cards for about $10, so I am trying a little bit of everything.

Ygor's dynamic programs helped me set up my monthly and weekly views, and now I'm just cherry-picking from various templates. I'm having so much fun! Thanks for all the great and informative posts that have helped me on my journey...I look forward to contributing.

Welcome! Thanks for sharing

Welcome! Thanks for sharing your creative experiences. Your pink Coach planner diy reminded me of what I did with the one I have! A strange size, 6 1/4 x 8 1/2- I removed the insert calendar, used a circa compact with 3/4" discs in that slot, along with the pad that came with the journal, located on the opposite side. I think the size of the discs and the pad work together to keep the compact size from sliding around. Have fun and keep us posted!
