Swirly Q GTD Template Set (Commercial, Non-free)

Finally!

One of my goals in 2009 was to finish my Swirly Q GTD Template set - and I am happy to say that it is now FINISHED!

This series is smooth and gentle in shades of lavender and green. Exquisitely unique, your will be in awe of this coordinated series!

The entire set consists of:

* Notes
* Graph Paper
* Mind Map
* Agenda
* Expense Report
* Phone Log
* Project Planner
* Personal Profile
* To Do List
* Weekly Template
* Monthly Template

They are also available in three-paks, separated as follows:

Set One:
* Notes
* Graph Paper
* Mind Map

Set Two:
* Agenda
* Expense Report
* Project Planner

Set Three:
* Phone Log
* Profile Page
* Things to Do

Set Four:
* Weekly Calendar
* Monthly Calendar
* Yearly Calendar

It has taken hours of work to bring these templates to fruition - the graphs are high quality vectors and the templates are presented in PDF format, which lends itself well to print at most any size. There are wide margins to support punching to fit both Circa and traditional 3, 5 or 7 hole binders.

The three-paks are priced at a reasonable $5.99, and the entire template set it $24.99. Many satisfied customers have purchased my templates and have been extremely happy with them.

I can also customize and portion of these for you, whether you need your week to start on a different day, or anything else that you require. I'm also happy to create a brand new custom set just for you. Feel free to contact me at blog@freshfocus.info.

These templates as well as my Java Template Pak are available from my blog, and you will find them at this link: http://freshfocus.info/blog/my-gtd-templates.

Thanks for viewing this template and I hope that you will enjoy them!

This bacon smells like spam!

Why, oh why! would any of us buy these templates when we can make templates ourselves or for eachother... for free! This is the very antithesis of DIY! Plus, these templates, friend, are not that great. Decorated, yes, but not that great.

Would you feel better...

...if this was posted in The Bazaar ?

Much.

Yes.

I have no problem

With charging for the work. I just saw a calender set on sale on ebay for $20.00. Many people here put in a lot of work and effort to design these things. If some people want to give things away and others want to charge, I have no problem with that. Some software is open source, some have licensing fees. Some ebooks are free, others are for sale. I think there is room here for marketing, all I ask is things be clearly labeled, which this one was.

No argument there, but...

...most all of THIS site is open and free. Kinda goes against the spirit.

I carefully checked your

I carefully checked your "about" page and nothing was stated that work here had to be FREE.

Tournevis,
Apparently it is not realized how much work goes into creating something like this. I've looked at the other templates on this site and have noted others mentioning fifteen hours, etc.

I can assure you that these take far longer to create. And there are no templates that I have ever found that are decorated like these. They are unique.

I did NOT post these under the premise that they were free whatsoever. I was VERY up front about everything. If the spirit here is "all free", that's not what the about page states. If that is indeed the premise, then the "about" page needs to be changed and that clearly stated.

I do realize how much work

I do realize how much work goes into creating templates. I have done some myself. That is not at issue here. While I agree that the about pages do not require that you templates be free, the site's culture, its spirit, has always tended towards free and share-alike, which is what I like the most about this site. This is not a rule; it need not be a rule. It is the site's culture. I simply do not agree that decorations justify sale.

As LisaPT points out, many people advertise their products here, but they do either in the bazaar or in the general forums. I do not remember those being advertised anywhere in the templates section. Your templates would set a precedant I am not comfortable with.

I do agree about the spirit, but

We do get excited when Myndology and Renaissance Art (and once upon a time Levenger) owners/employees announce new products. I think the little guy should have the same privilege.

I have got to get my act together and get some of the templates I've put together submitted. I feel bad that I've not done that yet, but there is always "one more thing" I want to do before sharing.

A few thoughts

First of all I laughed when I saw the template for sale because I thought who on diy planner would pay for a template but of course maybe some will. Of course I love playing about with some of the stuff here but I still have a retail diary (free to me but still :-).......)

The point is well made that many companies do use this site to advertise their services. The main players do contribute more than an advert and take on board views of their customers via this suite also though.

Lisa is right sometimes the little guy gets a hard time on this site (I gave paperpuppy a wee bit of a hard time myself on the ALife planner sales)

So go ahead and put on the template. Probably should be on the Bazaar page but the for sale bit was very clear an up front so noone would have been confused by that.

One disagreement is of course that the people on this site dont appreciate how long it takes to do a template. I think many folk do and that is why Doug, Ygor and many others are so well thought of here because their contributions are so much more than the odd post that the likes of me send in. It is a significant investment but is so generously given. And that is perhaps the reason why someone charging for templates here looks so out of place.

There's room for all I'm sure and seeing as I cant manage any template I cant criticise

I agree

Hi.

I agree with Superpooky.

Further, it doesn't bug me being in the template section--it's advertising a template. It wouldn't bug me being in the bazaar, and it wouldn't bug me as a portion of the 'free' listing also by the same author. A side question would be "when are postings purged from the template section?"

It was well-written, followed most of the best-practices of a template listing, and it was clear. It was also targeted and relevant, which is extremely important here.

I support anyone's write to make a product and put a price on it that seems fair to them. I also support my right to *not* buy it if I don't want to. I have been seeing a lot of posts from people who want the 'easy' way, and this certainly falls into that category. I have no problem with this.

I have been hanging out here for a long time now, and I was not offended by this posting. I vote we leave it alone until and unless that hyperlink goes bad. We certainly have enough standard template postings whose attachments have disappeared.. :)

Disappeared Attachments ?! Horrors !

Anyone that is aware if dead links or disappeared attachments, please bounce me a not and I will try contacting the author for a repair. If they do not respond, I will (after coordinating) delete it.
