Want to use multiple master pages in Open Office Draw

Hello everyone,

I'm a big master page user... it makes design so much easier. But I want to be able to switch between to master pages within Open Office Draw, and I can't figure out how to! Argh! I'm going crazy!

All the Open Office help files and everything on the internet tells me to open the Task Pane which doesn't exist in Draw. The Task Pane only exists in Impress. So how do I switch between two master pages in Draw? Does anyone know? Can you even do that?

Thank you so much,
Angel.

Have you tried...

...asking in the OpenOffice forums ?
I do not see a Master Page featuire anywhere in OODraw. I see a Master Document feature in OOWriter, but that's all I see.

Could this be a feature from another application ?

Master pages in Draw

Go to the View menu item> select Master

A new floating menu should open allowing you to create multiple master pages.

Good luck.

I found it !!

I am guessing you can already make multiple Master Pages, right ?
OK, make a new slide, then right click in it. Choose "Page" from the popup, then "Slide Design". You should get a selection dialog that shows your Master Pages. Pick one.

That took some serious digging. I found it by just poking around. I find no documentation that talks about this functionality in Draw. Just in Impress. I think this is a side-effect of the fact that OpenOffice is a single application with six different entry points rather than six separate applications.

Master page in draw

Here is a screen shot showing the menu selection for Master Pages in Draw.

Another option

Click on "View" then "Page pane" this gives you a pane showing all the master pages for that Draw document. Right click in the pane to create a new master page.

Yes, but...

...it does not answer the original question of how to apply the Master Page of your choice to a new slide/page

Thank you

First of all, you guys are super-awesome for helping me with this. Ygor, you're right, I probably should have tried the OO forums first, but I'm much more comfortable in these forums. :)

You're solution worked, Ygor!!! At first, I was right-clicking on the thumbnails and there was no "Page" option available on the pop-up menu. But when you right-click on the page itself, then the "Page" option is available!! And it works!

And thank you very much for taking the time to take and post the screen shot, NTP. That was really really nice of you to do that.

Thanks again, community! I'm so happy! Now I'm off to complete my masterpiece of productivity! Heh heh ;)

How to do multiple master Pages

In Draw, menu "View" -> "Master Pages"

You should see an extra menubar item (maybe floating) called "Master View"
If you do not see it, check View -> Toolbars to see if the master View toolbar is visible (checked)

The left-hand button on this master View toolbar creates a new master page in Draw

If necessary, I can screen-shoot all of this this evening at home.

Oh, I know how to make

Oh, I know how to make multiple master pages. :) That wasn't the problem. I just couldn't use more than the default master page within the slides. But you were right: you right click on a slide (not the thumbnail), and a pop-up menu comes up with "Page." Then choose "Slide Design" and you can select which master page you would like to use for that particular slide.

Thank you thank you again. I couldn't find that information anywhere.

Angel.

Excellent !

I am glad that we got an answer to your question.
Now I am going to need to spend a bit of time playing with Master Pages in OO-Draw just to see what it is all about.

Mass applying master pages

Hello,

I ran into a problem of having to change the master page for a number of slides... and the only way I seem to be able to find in OODraw is to change each slide or move all the slides to a separate document and use the required master there..

Is there a way we can select a bunch of slides and apply a specific master?

Thank you
