FC Store

I went to the Dayton Fairfield Commons(Ohio) Franklin Covey Store only to find out that they are going out as of July 10. How disappointing is that? I understand that due to the economy they have to close that store. I am heartbroken. I picked up a few items but hate that they will be going out soon. Any thoughts?

A quote from Robert A. Heinlein

A human being should be able to change a diaper, plan an invasion, butcher a hog, conn a ship, design a building, write a sonnet, balance accounts, build a wall, set a bone, comfort the dying, take orders, give orders, cooperate, act alone, solve equations, analyze a new problem, pitch manure, program a computer, cook a tasty meal, fight efficiently, die gallantly. Specialization is for insects.

One might make a similar statement about businesses in today's economy.
The FC Store strikes me as a very narrow niche market.

Head to Cincy?

Hi.

When I lived in Cincinnati, some years back, there was an FC store in one of the malls there. It's been long enough I don't remember which one, mind you, but Cincy is a nice day shopping trip from Dayton.

Failing that, the online store will happily sell you whatever they still carry.

My sympathies

When we first moved to Ann Arbor the mall here had a FC store. I remember how sad I was when it closed. There is just nothing like the feeling of going into a store filled with nothing but planners. Office supply stores are great for planners and more, but the FC store was something special.

Any sales?

Are they having a sale? Last time I was there, I felt they were a bit overpriced.

Several seem to have closed recently....

...and it IS so sad. I first learned about planning from them at the big seminar where you got the classic size binder and 2 pages per day refill at the seminar. I learned so much and that led to experimenting with my own forms and eventually finding this site. So I owe them A LOT, but I just ordered a beautiful aqua finsbury from filofax because that has standardized sizing of personal pages with a several other brands. I don't like having to make my regular weekly calendar pages -- I just like making the tabs and most of the other forms I use in my planner.
