Looking for circa / rollabind notebook that is held shut

I'm a circa user but need to find a good notebook to contain all my medical records / reports as I go from doc to doc. Ideally it would zip, but the levenger folios are too heavy. Will be using 3/4" or 1" discs. I don't need the discs to be incorporated in the notebook / folio .. could just slide my circa cover into a pocket. Any good / interesting suggestions? I had bought the broadcloth circa which had an elastic band, but the band stretched out over time and the broadcloth stained easily.

Do you sew ?

It might be easier to make what you want rather than to find it to buy.

How about...

A messenger bag or backpack or bookbag type thing to carry the notebooks in ?

I hope these suggestions help.

Have you ever held one of Levengers folios? I own a light brown one and a bomber jacket style I got cheap on their ebay outlet because they are monogrammed and they are super light. . . Some people have found zip up binders with removeable rings that Circa will fit in. There is a cool article I found while googling about a woman who makes homeade covers out of tyvek envelopes. It is an easy diy project. I'll post the link in a moment. Hope you find what you are looking for.

Renaissance Arts cover?

I have a couple of covers from Renaissance Arts that may be perfect. They are handmade and wonderful!

Basic question: What size ?

What size notebook do you want ?
Letter (8.5 by 11 inches) ?
Classic (5.5 by 8.5 inches) ?

Or what ?

Have you seen the Moleskine Accordion File Folders ?
Small
Medium
Large
Ginormous!

Re: Notebook

Someone else here suggested making one. If you're handy with pliers, you could remove the rings from one of the zippered binders from Wal-Mart and then put your Circa book inside the pocket. I did this once with a simple, cheap, three ring planner and it worked well. Just be careful when freeing up the ring assembly from the binder or you'll tear up the inner lining. Once one side is freed though, the other usually slides out easily. I converted a $5 neoprene (waterproof) binder this way.

Hacking a zip folio (letter) -- any specific example?

Having lost a ebay bidding war despite some serious sniping, I remain on the prowl for a slim letter zip folio.

Last night @ Walmartworld I checked out 3 or 4 zip folios with either rings, a pad, or both, but none were hack-worthy as they had no inside sleeve to fit the back cover of a disc notebook.

I've been to Staples, Office Depot, and a couple of local stores, and have either run into the same issue, or have found a few which could work, but were not to my liking due to either expense, bulkiness, or ugliness. (I've also looked on the web).

So I'm wondering if any reader knows of a *specific* example of a Levenger zip folio (letter) substitute that I can have at with my pliers which seems reasonably inexpensive, slim, and attractive.

Ballistic ripstop, or anything non-leather is actually my preference. (I thought I'd struck gold with this "contractor portfolio" on amazon, but alas and alack -- the no-sleeve problem.)
