One Year of Monthly Zero Based Budgets UPDATE: 1.2 version for OpenOffice/NeoOffice & Excel

Zero based budget spreadsheet for doing a budget for 12 months. Based on the concept described by Dave Ramsey.

Update: 1.1 includes some tweaks and a iWork '08 Numbers version.

Update: 1.2 includes a major bug fix for the OpenOffice/NeoOffice & Excel version. The way totals were calculated, all months would reflect the totals from January. This bug was not present in the Numbers version.

Note:I had to zip the Numbers version to get it to attach. Unzip it and then open with Numbers.

Paper size:
Letter and A4
Thumbnail:
preview_of_monthly_cashflow_plans.jpg
Usage advice:

At the beginning of the month, fill in the income and expenses you expect for the month. Include how much you will save for emergencies, debts you will pay off, and money you will give away. The difference between your income and all the other things should equal $0. Live on this budget and then fill out the "actual income" and "actual expenses" sections at the end of the month to see how you did.

You should be able to print it out in various sizes, but I have found landscape letter size works about the best.

License details included as part of the spreadsheet itself.

3x5 index cards in letter sheet

Five 3x5 index cards on one letter sized sheet. Different styles.

Paper size:
Letter and A4
Thumbnail:
card_temp_thumb.png
Usage advice:

Until a short time ago, I was printing 4up 3x5 index cards on letter sized paper, but then I discovered that if I placed the cards right, I could get more cards from a single sheet and thus, waste less paper.

There are three files:

  • blank cards
  • lined cards (horizontal)
  • lined cards (vertical)

The lined templates each come in four styles:

  • traditional (red upper line and blue lines, shown in thumbnail)
  • black
  • gray
  • light gray

There are templates for both the front and back of each card, and when I tested it on my printer (Epson Stylus CX4700), they came out perfectly, but on other printers you might have to tinker a bit. Just remember to select None on the scaling menu when you print from Acrobat Reader.

I also posted the OOo Draw file, so you can make changes if you need to.

Maker's Weekly Planner

I have a page-a-day journal calendar I use to keep track of what I'm doing, but I find I don't plan effectively because I can't see the whole week at a time. When I read Maker's Schedule, Manager's Schedule I suddenly understood why I have so much trouble with most weekly planners: they all have hourly time slots, and I don't work like that. (Also, I'd need 6am to midnight for an hourly planner.)

I loved LynnR's whimsical style in her Page-A-Day Planner, so I created a time block weekly planner in the same style.

Paper size:
Letter and A4
Thumbnail:
weekly-planner.gif
Usage advice:

Sized 8.3" by 11", so if you center it'll print well on both Letter and A4. I sliced up the lines in the notes section so it works equally well for paragraphs and to-do lists. :)

7-day columns, Monday and Sunday starts both included. Rows give slots for Early Morning, Morning, Noon, Afternoon, Evening, Dinner, & Late Evening. Rearrange as you like in MS Word, or print straight from PDF.

I've also thrown in my modded version of LynnR's daily planner, in case anyone else likes it. ^^ (I replaced chores with downtime, added an extra hour (11pm-midnight), and sized it down so it fits on Letter paper.)

MY PLANNER

This template is a one week per page to fit into a regular 3 hole binder. I thought I would share it if anyone was interested. You fill in the dates by hand. It is in Microsoft Word.

Paper size:
Letter and A4
Usage advice:

One week is listed per page in my planner. It has a section for dated activites, Big Rocks, a list of To Do's with started and completed areas and Notes.

It is set up to use similar to the Harvard System. I found the Harvard notebooks to be too complicated and the spaces too small for my usage. But the principle is the same. Under each date there are lines set up for each hour, and each hour is broken into 15 minute blocks. If you choose to do an action at a certain time, you list the number or letter of the action in the square under the date instead of entering the whole item on the line.

My Weekly Review and Planning System

I had already posted my daily planner earlier and was hesitating to post my weekly planning system since it is rather detailed and time consuming. In any event, am posting it now in case it helps even one person other than me.
If you have a look at the flowchart which is attached first, it may aid in understanding the flow of the weekly review attachment.

Paper size:
Letter and A4

Usage advice:

The attachment itself contains the usage advice. I am posting two attachments, one with examples typed out for viewing, and the other is the same form without examples and ready for download if someone wishes. There is a bit of discrepancy between the two attachments as far as Table C is concerned, but that can be ignored since the blank form contains the final format.

Student Success Planner

This is a simple template which I find very helpful as a student and a business owner. It's in black and white, and it was originally designed for letter or A4 sized paper - not sure how it will look on A5 or Classic.

It's prioritized by Urgent vs. Important goals, and it allows you to track your progress every week in the categories of school, business, and health.

You also pick an action goal for the week which you want to accomplish that week, and at the end of the week you write down what you did to accomplish that goal as a pat on the back - this is to show you past successes and keep you motivated. This can be anything - it doesn't have to be related to school or business. Mine last week was that I need to go through my fridge and clean it out, and restock with healthy food. And it got done! Mostly, I make these goals ones that I usually hate doing so that my satisfaction at accomplishing them is even higher than normal.

It has timings from 8 a.m. - 12 a.m. because I know we keep long hours.

I hope this helps you out and god bless in accomplishing your goals and creating your future.

Paper size:
Letter and A4
Thumbnail:
plansnip.JPG
Usage advice:

I would suggest sitting down at the beginning of the week (sunday night for me)and writing down your goals for this week, along with your Big Goal, and as the week goes along, track your progress.

Always separate what is urgent from what is important. The way I define it is, if it's something that will get you closer to your goals, and actually move you forward, it's important. Otherwise, it's simply urgent. You might need to do the urgent things first, but always keep your perspective about them, and don't get caught up - just get it done, then forget it!

And remember that health is one of the big three - don't get so busy accomplishing that you forget that you need to be healthy to enjoy it!

So good luck, and god bless!

May through Dec 2011 Daily Calendar Pages - Letter Size

Daily calendar pages for May through December 2011 with columns for "Priority To Do" and "Want to Do," as well as an "Appointments" column with times (my day starts at 4:45am so the first time row is 4am). There is a small area to write in Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner, and a "Notes for Today" area to put things like "Hubby out of town" or "Jane's Birthday."

I just put a link to my site because I was hitting the disk quota when I tried to upload the files.

Usage advice:

I'm sorry for the wonky margins. OpenOffice Draw (and the consequent pdf that I make from it) is pushing the entire page to the right by one-quarter inch, and I cannot figure out why. So I'm just manually adjusting for it.

Habit Tracker

They say 21 days makes a habit. This template has great little bubbles for filling in each day you accomplish your goal. The template has 4 21-day sections per page.

Paper size:

Usage advice:

Try one habit for each area of your life. The four sections for example, would allow you to have a goal for physical, mental, emotional and spiritual. Each day you do the desired habit you can record your accomplishment. As the 21 days progress, you will easily see your progress and balance in your life.
