Planning Year per Legal (fold-out Classic) - 2008 & 2009

This provides all of 2008 on one side and 2009 on the other of a landscaped piece of Legal. Once printed, it can be folded into thirds to fit into a Classic-sized planner.

As I was exploring the site and getting things together, I found the Year a page (A4) for 2006 and 2007 and thought it'd be nice to have an updated 2008/2009.

It's listed as "Other" paper size since it uses a full piece of Legal and folds to fit into Classic.

Paper size:
Other
Thumbnail:
2008 & 2009 Year.png
Usage advice:

Use this to map your year. Track vacation time. Plan timelines for longer projects.

I've included the .odg and .pdf versions. Suggested fold lines are included on the image, but if your printer can't print within 1/4" of the edge of the page, they won't print out. Still, you'll be able to see them in the .pdf viewer and can adjust as per your tastes. (I tried to fold mine along border between date boxes.)

*Update* I've added a new file. It's Excel 97 format, since it was the spreadsheet I had at hand when I needed to create an updated version. It may work in Open Office, but I haven't tested it. To use/update dates: Add the beginning year in cell C1 -- all other cells will update based on that entry. If you change anything else, you'll have to fix the formulae.

Day Diary Template 2008 v1

Updated version on my original Day Diary Templates.
Not likely to be the last as I search for the 'perfect' solution.

Appointment Page on left hand side
Notes/Tasks Page on right hand side
Monthly Index Page added for special dates & a Notes page

It's not perfect but I hope they are of value to someone.

PDF Paper size = A4, page design is for Covey Compact

Paper size:
Other
Usage advice:

Printing : Print duplex double-sided printing.

Punch boarders: Center of the page where the page will be trimmed.

Trimming: Cut down center of A4, then trim off Note sections. Cut note sections in half again. These will take a set of three holes punched. (or turn vertical to take 6 holes, but lines will also be vertical)

Page Date Order: Cut page down center then flip LHS onto RHS to get the date order.

NB: I used the spare paper down the bottom of the page templates to create small note pages. I found that I was writing small info notes for other people and having to tear up a large note page or giving them a whole note page, so the little note pages were made.
I also found i wasn't finishing some of my tasks so I now use the Floating Actions page and move it across the dates as I need it.

Weekly calendar with Notes - Filofax Personal (6 3/4" x 3 3/4") size 2-up, in MS Word

The templates on here are wonderful, a big thank you to all. However, I wanted a filofax template, 2 Up, in an editable document that I could get creative on. After many trees were slaughtered (what my colleagues must have thought as I held each print up to the window to see if the second page lined up with the first?) I finally got a version to work for me.

This layout is copied from a classic size template already on here. But what I plan to do with this is create many other templates now that I have the position and size correct.

Hope this is useful to the filofax fans on here. After many years of "stealing" free stuff, finally I give back!

Daily Pages Compact with FC/GTD mix

This is my Daily Two Pages per day take on Franklin Covey/GTD Mix.
Compact Size 4.25" X 6.75" or 108 X 172mm
I am using precut compact size blank paper from Franklin Covey.
This is done in Microsoft Word 2003.

This is compact size because that is the size that works best for me. Small enough to carry and large enough to write in and see. It's about as heavy as I care to go also.
Open office is not an option for me right now as both download time and space are not available. I wanted to use what was easily available to me and the system I already had.

Paper size:
Other
Usage advice:

This is May in Microsot Word.
Compact size 4.25" X 6.75".
This size paper will not duplex in my printer so usually run off month on one side and then item lists on the other.

I can change the color of the months, the quotes (if I want one) and type in any extra information I want for a day.
I don't know how to change the date automatically yet so needs to be done page by page. This works out as I like standing things typed in my book.
I could run a standard form for the year and just write things in the blank spaces. I have not done a starter page for the Month or a lead page.
This is still a working form that will change as I experiment with it's use.
Date/appts are on the right as your book is open, lists are on the left.

Geodex-style Weekly To-do

Done with the Widget Generator.

The paper size is 1/2 (vertical) of a classic size page (2.75" wide x 8.5" tall).

Paper size:
Other
Usage advice:

One of the nifty things about the long-gone Geodex system was that you could see your daily, weekly, monthly and yearly calendars all at once. This form is my version of the weekly to-do list, and is designed to be punched on the right hand edge. If you use daily forms on the right side of your planner, this sits on the other side of the rings so you can see all those things you need to accomplish for the week, and can transfer to your daily forms at will.

Franklin Covey compact size two-page monthly revision

Here is the revision for the compact calendar. I tried before, but I do not see it.
You have to fill in the dates yourself. this is designed to give you the maximum white space available.

I took out the little date boxes and made the two columns next to the the holes larger. I used a curved punch to round the corners next to the rings. I used a vellum-type paper, but a little heavier, a very light tan. It came out okay for me. I hope you find an answer to your problem. You might ask Ygor to make one for you.

Depending on what kind of printer you use, you will have to reposition your sheet to print on the other side. I have a hp and put the sheet face up and head first into the paper slot.

The Organizational Manuscript Planning Foldout

I don't know if I've described it before on this site, but one of the things I do to keep on track with my novels is to create organizational manuscripts of them once I get to a certain point. I do this because I am extremely scatterbrained and need to have some sort of guide along the way. In these organizational manuscripts, I include:

- Parts already written;
- Oodles of notes (culture, literary, characters, food, etc.);
- Character sketches for main characters;
- Character summaries for minor/supporting characters;
- Summaries of the settings/places important to the story;
- Maps of places in the story (some actual places, and some imagined - I use Open Office Draw for my fictitious maps;
- A summary of the story and a summary of intent/theme;
- An outline;
- Writing exercises and style notes for problem areas;and
- What I call ponder sheets. These are the most important for me. I ask myself questions about scenes I haven't written and leave space for writing ideas.

I've had a couple of writers say that this sounded too constricting for them. It's true that some writers will find it constricting, but I always leave myself plenty of wiggle room. An organizational manuscript I've been using for a while will be filled with smaller sheets of notes stapled into the booklet, exed out anything and everything. So no, I don't find it constricting.

In any case, this is a form I created to help me get started on new organizational manuscripts. I wanted something that would allow for everything to be on one page, so I made it a legal-sized fold-out.

Paper size:
Other
Thumbnail:
OM chart.JPG
Usage advice:

This is 8.5x14 legal paper printed in landscape orientation to create a fold-out. I'm not entirely happy with how this turned out, so I may tweak it some later on when I use up all of these that I've printed out. I'd like to make it a little bigger. Maybe two letter pages taped together or something.

One recommendation is that you definitely need to use heavier stock. All I could find was 20lb paper in legal size, but I probably didn't look very hard.

There are two sides to this. There's the inside of the fold out and the front flap. Mine is laid out kind of odd on the front flap because of the way my printer is oriented, so you may have to do some moving around of the table.

Again, I've used Word tables.

Wavy weeks

Month- or year-at-a-glance with days of the week following a sinusoidal curve. March-December 2010 on 12" square scrapbook-sized paper.
Created these pages to track baby milestones for a scrapbook but thought others might be interested in the "wavy weeks" (inspired by W. Bradford Paley's 2007 planner: http://wbpaley.com/brad/index.htm).

Usage advice:

You can generate your own "wavy weeks" string using the linked Google spreadsheet (just change the dates in the first worksheet). Or make your own spreadsheet with dates in the first column and fill the second column with this formula: =CONCATENATE(REPT(" ",(3-ABS(WEEKDAY(A1)-4))*2),(DAY(A1)))

SamAgenda - a Scribus script for planners

Simple "ruled week on two pages" planner creation wizard for Scribus.
It creates an agenda for a given year and a given language in the Filofax Personal format, on a A4 page, three sheets per page. Just cut and punch the sheets, and close them into the binder.

DESCRIPTION & USAGE:
It's a python script that automates the process of creation a planner in Scribus.
Just unzip the script and copy it into the directory ~\usr\share\scribus\scripts\ (or something similar, depending on your operating system). This way you will have in Scribus a new menu item into the menu [Script] - [Scribus Scripts] : 'SamAgenda'. Click on it and enjoy.

This script take a bit longer time to elaborate the full document, so don't be hurry. Take a look at the progressbar at the bottom of the Scribus main window.

In the "Eng2010.pdf.zip" attachment you can see an example of what i've done in scribus with my script in just 25 seconds: a complete english planner for the year 2010.

Every comment or suggestion is welcome!.

Update: version 0.2
- Discarded the 'calendar' module importation. The standard python module 'calendar.py' seems to be not fully updated on some operating systems (thanks to ygor at diyplanner.com for his great collaboration).
- Added a counter at the upper right side of the page.
- Some minor bugs resolution and cosmethic changes.

Template for a small Addressbook

Lately I changed to a small ring bound planner in the Franklin-Covey pocket size format (3 1/2 x 6 inches; 89 x 152 mm). As for me the addressbook is a vital part of my planner, I had to bring my contacts into that ringbook.

Paper size:
Other
Thumbnail:
0-book.png
Usage advice:

For this purpose I made a template in scribus that brings three pages on an A4 sheet. Although the start-up filling I puchased for the planner brought an A-Z-register, I decided to include tabs in the design. That way I will not carry 13 black plastic stripes containing virtually no information with me.

All elements are arranged in layers, so they can easily be altered or switched off for printing. The layer ContentText has chained textboxes where the contacts have to be filled in with the story editor (of scribus). To faciliate formatting I added two paragraph styles: EntryHeadline and EntryBody.

For me I set up one file for each section (AB; CD; etc.). If someone has very much contacts starting with a specific letter I suggest one individual file for that letter. It is possible to add more pages in the template by using the master-pages I defined. But then it is necessary also to add the new texboxes and to continue the chain.

In fact this template can be used for any form of the specific size in a 3-up way.

Some printers might be tricky in printing double sided, but this topic is covered elsewhere in this forum.
