Music Notes

Compose music on your Hipster PDA

Paper size:
Index Card (3 x 5)
Thumbnail:
Usage advice:

Inspired by John Norris' Hipster PDA forms, Pete Phillips contributed this handy Hipster PDA form for jotting down musical notes.

Nine staves give you plenty of room to compose your next masterpiece, and there's even a bit of space to write down lyrics for your next catchy tune. You can also write guitar chords above the lines.

Far out tip: write down a few songs and laminate the cards. Then you can hit the right notes when you're yodeling in the bathroom! ;)

Comparison Shopper for HPDA

HPDA-sized card to list the features you want in an item you want to buy and to compare up to 3 different models.

Paper size:
Index Card (3 x 5)
Thumbnail:
Usage advice:

This template was inspired by Merlin Mann's Phone Made of Human Ass podcast. It is a simple reference card that you can list features you want in a new device, with space to fill in several models and check off which have the features you are looking for. There is also space for notes so you can keep track of things like which store/website carries which model, etc.

This is my first-ever template using the DIY Planner Widget Kit, and I admit I screwed up saving the OODraw file, so I do not have the source file, only the finished PDF. My apologies...

Simple Day Plan System 5 x 8

Simple Day Plan System - 5" x 8" index card format.

Paper size:
Other
Usage advice:

Ideal for people who have relatively few appointments and to-do items. Great for people who like to travel really light.

Consists of blended Appointments/ToDo area, Notes, and on the reverse, Agenda (can also be used as a free-form expanded ToDo list), Daily Tasks Completion Indicator, and Evening Items area.

Using the Daily Tasks Completion Indicator (DTCI) is simple. At the end of the day, review the number of tasks and appointments completed, and divide by the total number of tasks/appointments that you started out with, then circle the appropriate percentage. The DTCI acts as a reminder of what still needs to be done and acts as a quick visual indicator of your day's progress. You could even choose to mark your
intended goal for the day with red ink, and the actual results with ink of another
colour.

Weekly Time Map for Routines

This is a simple spreadsheet to track routines. The template is for 6am-11pm for 7 day weeks starting Monday.

Paper size:
Classic (5.5 x 8.5)
Thumbnail:
Usage advice:

Use this is track routines such as Communtes or Work Schedules and broad catigories of tasks such as "Errands or Household".

A sample is included with the Open Office version. Downloading the spreadsheet is stongly reccomened since the cells are too small to write in easily. The spreadsheet uses the BlueHighway fonts that are use in the Widget Kits.

Color coding of types of tasks is a good idea. To color code select the cell or cells, right click, select "format cells", choose the background tab, select your fill color.

*The only restictions on the use of this template are any that might be attached to the font.

Tab Pocket Template

Template to create Monthly Calandar with Back Pocket and Tab. Requires legal size stock (old legal file folders work).

Paper size:
Classic (5.5 x 8.5)
Thumbnail:
Usage advice:

This is still a work in progress, but the pocket is very handy with the suspense list (on back of page)

Requires legal size stock, legal file folders work is you cut them down.

This takes a little work:

* Fill in days of month and label tab.
* Cut along the solid lines (except for a tab).
* Fold along the dotted lines (easier if you lightly score along the fold.
* Glue as directed. Let Dry.
* You can reinforce the edges with a bit of tape on the outside.

Business Card Sources Page

Pages desigend to give you a place to literally stick business cards for places you shop. Requires Double Sided Tape.

Paper size:
Classic (5.5 x 8.5)
Thumbnail:
Usage advice:

This is a sources page for lazy people (like me) who aren't going to recopy data that is already in business card form.

If you print it out and apply double sided tape to the striped areas you will be all ready to add business cards to your planner's referance section. When you have a target card take off the other side of the double sided tape, stick and you are almost done.

The business cards attach sideways, but there are 2 lines either underneith or above to write a quick discription (eg Cakes, Web Guy) and a little circle to rate the service (the more colored in the better).

The Draw Tempale offer 3 other ratings squares (5 stars, single starfor numberical rating and a "happy face" without a mouth).

Weekly GTD Combo Page

Right hand margin page with Next Action, Waiting For, Projects and Someday/Maybe.

Paper size:
Classic (5.5 x 8.5)
Thumbnail:
Usage advice:

Based on the 0.6 Widget Kit.

There is not a whole lot of space here, esp. for projects, but that is on purpose. If I try to do more then 6 or 7 projects at a time I am going to drop things.

There are no labels for the columns on this page. I generally use the the right hand next action for a project or location code if needed. I use the left-most column under Waiting For to note progress and the right-most for a date, sometimes the other is useful for a project code or the like. I use the left-most column under projects for a project code.

Designed to be used with my 2006 weekly planner pages with dates. Formatted for a right hand margin, two per standard size letter pages and two pages with only one form per page.

New Year's Resolutions

Manage your New Year's Resolutions by coming up with several ways to fulfill them

Paper size:
Classic (5.5 x 8.5)
Thumbnail:
Usage advice:

If you had a hard time keeping last year's New Year Resolutios, try this template. =) Instead of making a resolution like "Go to the gym every week", think of the outcome ("Be in better health"), and then come up with several ways to make progress ("Eat vegetables", etc.). That way, if you don't feel like going to the gym, you have other ways to make progress. You can use the grid to keep track of your progress or write down extra notes. Have fun!

Fun Monthly Calendar Template

This is a quick and informal monthly calendar template for the Hipster PDA that you can fill in by hand, or edit it in a graphics app for a more polished look. I've gone for a more "rounded" look, and a more casual font, but this is inspired by the excellent DIY Planner templates.

Paper size:
Index Card (3 x 5)
Thumbnail:
Usage advice:

Print from your favorite graphics application on an 3x5 index card and fill out the circles with the appropriate days for whatever month you are setting up. If you feel real industrious fill them in with your graphics app. I used the TrueType font Comic Sans for the lettering if you want to replicate it yourself.

* I use the top right circle to indicate to myself if any information is recorded on the back or my cards. Simply check it off if you write anything on the back.

Family Planner

Teach kids about mealtimes and chores or keep track of important dates with this refrigerator-door Family Planner.

Paper size:
Letter
Thumbnail:
Usage advice:

Teach young kids about time and keep track of important dates like school plays with this Family Planner. You can use the three clocks to indicate breakfast, lunch, and dinner time by shading the timespans. Use the grid at the bottom to keep track of anything: dates, chores, even checklists for kids going to school.

Lamination is optional, but can keep your planner safe from crayon marks and milk splashes. Laminate before filling in the grid, and keep a marker and rag handy.
